Softwood is also a useful furniture wood which is also categorized into sub types. Pine is softwood which has uniform texture and it finishes well and resists shrinkage, swelling and warping. Hemlock is a lightweight wood and has low resistance to decay. It is mainly used for construction work, in doors, sub flooring and crates. Fir is also valuable softwood used for making furniture, doors, frames, windows and interior trim. Redwood, Spruce and Cedar are also some types of softwood.
